Directions: up the stairs and turn right at the top, door to restrooms (with a unixes sign on the front) will be on the wall to your right. the first door opens into a hallway, which opens up at the end to a room with a large mirrored wall and about 4 individual stalls.
Comments: bathroom area outside stalls is quite dim, not dark, but natural without nasty flourescent lights, so the mirrors aren't too scary. I've also never been in and had several people hanging around in the room waiting for stalls to be free, it is generally not a busy restroom. individual stalls have small 'male'/'female' signs but it is a safe space and I haven't known anyone to pay attention to them; all the stalls are exactly the same. the only issue is that many if not all of the doors are currently missing locking mechanisms; unspoken protocol is to not try the handles of closed doors; I've personally never had an issue with lack of locks but understand that might be an uncomfortable idea for some. the disabled restroom downstairs is also currently out of order. I know a couple of trans women and others who frequently use this coffeehouse as the staff are friendly and the restroom situation is helpful (:
